The NSF is pleased to announce that the inaugural meeting of the Working Committee on Social Sciences was held on 16th November 2023. The Committee is comprised of a pool of experts representing diverse areas of the social science discipline and would bring these experts together to fulfill its objectives.  Aligning with its Terms of Reference (ToR), the Committee will be able to address interdisciplinary research with a substantial component of social science producing research outputs having an impact. Further, the Committee will discuss important issues that need social science interventions and shall make recommendations to be communicated to the relevant decision-making levels. The capacity building of young research scholars would enhance the quality of research as well as research outputs. Dissemination of social science perspectives on current issues will eventually build a well-informed society hence adapting rationally to diverse societal changes. The Committee will also liaise with internationally recognized entities of social science by creating linkages and collaborative endeavors. While fulfilling the aforementioned objectives, the Committee is expected to generate a good momentum towards a vigorous program of research and other activities in social science at the NSF.
