A meeting on ‘How to help building a creative and Innovative Nation’

With the new education reforms planned by the government targeting to build up a student centered Education System in place of Examination-centered Education System, Science Popularization Division of the National Science Foundation (NSF), under the guidance  of NSF Working committee on STEM Education  organized a roundtable discussion with the key persons involved in the reforms to  find out changers going to be occurred in science and technology education system in the country. The discussion was held on 2nd July 2020 at the NSF auditorium with the participation of members of the ‘President Task Force for Education’, institutional heads, and key staff members of the Ministry of Education and  members of NSF Working Committee on STEM education and members of NSF Working Committee on Science Popularization.


Science Research Projects Competition (SRPC) - 2019

The final round of the Science Research Projects Competition 2019 was held on the 12th February 2020 in the NSF Auditorium. Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, the Chairman of the NSF, inaugurated the session with an inspiring introductory speech together with a welcome note addressing students and teachers. He highlighted the merit of scientific research and the potential of students to grow as good researchers starting from early days as students. Twenty selected winners from the first round of the SRPC were presented certificates.


Round-table discussion with EU, JICA and Fulbright Commission

A round-table discussion was held on 28.01.2020 in the auditorium of the NSF with the participation of Directors of the Centre for International Affairs (CINTA) of the universities to apprise them of the opportunities offered by EU, JICA and US-SL Fulbright Commission for research, higher studies, fellowships and capacity building. It was chaired by Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, Chairman of NSF. Mr. Ludivic Ciechanowski, Programme Manager, International Cooperation and Development of EU, Mr. Indika Cabral, Senior Project Specialist of JICA  and Mrs. Sandarshi Gunawardena, Executive Director of SL- US Fulbright Commission made detailed presentations on opportunities available. The EU representative said that another awareness programme would be conducted in March regarding the call for new proposals by EU on Horizon 2020.
