Dr. Ranil Coorey, Associate Professor of Curtin University, Australia visits NSF

Dr. Ranil Coorey, Associate Professor in Food Science and Technology, Curtin University, Australia called on Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, Chairman of the National Science Foundation with a view to promoting research collaboration between Sri Lankan Universities and Curtin University,  Australia. Discussions were held on the current research interests and areas for possible cooperation with special focus on novel food products to address the needs of people living  a fast-paced life and  the growing incidence of  NCDs in the country.

During his visit to  Sri Lanka, he would  visit the University of Ruhuna and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to meet with staff in the field of Food Science and Technology. It is expected that his visit would pave the way for collaboration between academics in Sri Lanka and Australia with the engagement of industry to produce novel and innovative food products to address some high-priority needs related to nutrition and NCDs in Sri Lanka. 

This visit was facilitated through the global digital platform constructed by the NSF to harness Sri Lankan expatriates for national development.
