Dr Liwan Liyanage, Western Sydney University, Australia visits the NSF

Dr Liwan Liyange, Sri Lankan expatriate in Australia visited the NSF on 8th September 2023 and held a discussion with Dr Sepalika Sudasinghe, Director General of the NSF with a view to strengthen collaboration in supporting Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) organizations to develop their training courses addressing the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR). Dr Liyanage is a renowned academician and Data Scientist at Western Sydney University, Australia, who pioneered the teaching of data analytics. She has also made outstanding contribution in the fields of data mining and visualization, statistical and machine learning, applied AI and statistical decision-making. She has already engaged actively in the NSF endeavor towards curriculum development for a diploma course on Data Science to be offered at TVET level.

Dr Liwan’s visit paved the way for strengthening collaboration with special attention to enhance performance of universities and TVET sector in terms of research supervision and capacity building.
