The National Initiative for Tea Sector Improvement

The National Science Foundation (NSF), under the purview of the Ministry of Science and Technology, has embarked on several national initiatives addressing high-priority national concerns that require a multidisciplinary and holistic approach and Tea sector improvement is one such high priority. The NSF would like to call for concept notes that will address the following issues:

  • Enhancing productivity through Technology diffusion.
  • Strengthening the unique Pure Ceylon Tea brand, Value Addition/ Product Diversification for Ceylon Tea.

The ultimate objective of these initiatives is to make a significant direct or indirect contribution to the National GDP and, consequently, the socio-economic development of the country.

The concept note should be 1 to 2 pages and include;

  1. Title
  2. Expert team to carry out the project / Institute affiliated
  3. Problem/rationale
  4. Proposed intervention
  5. How do you prove techno-economic feasibility
  6. Resource requirement
  7. Outputs/Outcome
  8. Impact in macro picture ( i.e. contribution to GDP/national level impact)
  9. Contact of lead proponent: Mobile number and e-mail
