NSF facilitates motivational speech to school children by Dr Nadeesha Chandrasena, WIPO Global Award Winner

A motivational speech and life experience sharing to the after-O/L students on the importance of pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields and having personal targets was conducted on 23rd July 2025 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo 07 which was co-organized by NSF and Old Girls’ Association of the said school under the Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WEST) programme of the NSF. The speech was delivered by Dr Nadeesha Chandrasena, winner of the 2025 Award of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under the ‘Environment’ category for smart drainage system invented by her. Around one hundred school children as well as some scientists and engineers from the Sri Lanka National Chapter of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (SLNC - OWSD) and the Women Engineers Forum, Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL); collaborating organizations of the NSF WEST Programme also attended the event.
