Lighting the traditional oil lamp in the Workshop on Awareness Raising in Disaster Management

 

The Science Popularization Division of NSF was able to organize 06 workshops during the year 2006/2007.  The main objectives of these workshops were to share scientific information and experiences on various aspects.

International Workshop on Awareness Raising in Disaster Management 

21 – 24 February 2006 Colombo

Delegates from SAARC and  South East Asian Countries (India , Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia Thailand, Maldives and Sri Lanka  ) participated 

Objective :
Develop preparedness programme for Local/Foreign stakeholders towards disaster management

Vidu Nena – Sisu Udana workshop
School Science Societies at the National Institute of Education (NIE)
                     
Science Communication workshop
at Institute of Fundamental Studies Kandy for the scientists on 25-26 August 2006. Thirty two young scientists participated in the programme

Training of Trainers workshop 
Conducted for the Provincial In-service Advisers on  disaster risk management on 28-29 August 2006 at the National Institute of Education, Maharagama. 40 in-service Advisers participated in the programme.

Introductory  workshops on Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair
Three workshops were conducted in Colombo, Matara and Kandy
