The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports R & D activities of Sri Lankan scientists across all fields of Science & Technology including the social sciences, the outputs and outcomes of which will ultimately benefit the Sri Lankan society
The NSF is calling applications for competitive research grants that address issues related to the socio-economic development of Sri Lanka aligning with the ‘Research and Development Approach’ of the government policy document; ‘A Thriving Nation a Beautiful Life’ and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Who can apply:
- Citizens of and residing in Sri Lanka
- Permanent employees of state/ non-state university or research institution
Research teams:
- Multidisciplinary
- Inter-institutional collaborations
Research Areas:
- Agriculture, fisheries, livestock and food security
- ICT, communication, engineering, energy, maritime, transportation, tourism and other industries
- Environment, land, water, air and mineral resources
- Health sciences
- Social sciences and science education
Applications are encouraged:
- Scientists of high repute
- Early-career researchers
- Underrepresented universities
The grants will be awarded based on the merit of the proposal, its innovation potential, and
its significance for society and the country.
Incomplete and late applications will not be processed.
Decision of the National Science Foundation will be final.
