World Science Day Schools Programme is one of the key activities conducted by the National Science Foundation to popularize science amongst school children to cultivate an appreciation of the value of science, scientific method, technology and the integral role that science play in modern society.
Satellite programmes for school children in various in various districts of the country to showcase their scientific knowledge, innovation and advancement by participating in competitions such as poster presentations, drama, digital story telling, ( to convey scientific concepts ) role play ( play the character of an eminent scientist ) are conducted related to the theme.
The main event under the above programme is held at the BMICH Main hall under the auspices of the minister of Science and technology as the chief guest and the minister of Education as the guest of honour. The key segment of this event is the Awards ceremony where the winners of the following competitions are rewarded with plaques, certificates and cash awards.

About 1200 school children with their teachers from all over the country including North and East participate at this event. Among the other participants are academics, scientists, media personnel and parents.
