National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

The MoU between NSF, Sri Lanka and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) was signed on 07th April 2016 in Beijing, during the visit of the then-Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to China.
 
01st Joint Workshop between the scientists of the two countries was held on 4-7 July, 2017 in Beijing, China on the theme; ‘Climate change adaptation environment and health’. This was co-sponsored by the NSF and NSFC and organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). A delegation of 24 scientists headed by the then-Minister of Science, Technology and Research of Sri Lanka attended this Workshop.
 
As a follow up to the said Workshop, the 01st Joint Call for Proposals was held by the NSF and NSFC in the latter part of 2017 in the areas of ‘Health’ and ‘Water and Environment’. Out of the proposals received, 03 collaborative research project proposals on Water and Environment and 02 collaborative research project proposals on Health were jointly awarded by the NSF and NSFC, which are ongoing at the moment.
