There are several compelling for why one should protect his invention. Progress and well-being of humanity rests on its capacity for new creations in the areas of technology and culture. Legal protection of these new creations encourages the expenditure of additional resources which leads to further innovation. Promotion and protection of inventions spurs economic growth, creates new jobs and industries, and enhances the quality and enjoyment of life.

What kind of protection does a patent offer?

Patent protection means that the invention cannot be commercially made, used, distributed or sold without the patent owner's consent. These patent rights are usually enforced in a court, which holds the authority to stop patent infringement. Patent owner has the right to decide who may or may not use the patented invention for the period in which the invention is protected.
