Sri Lanka represents AASSREC 25th Biennial General Conference, 14-16 June 2023, Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea

National Science Foundation is the focal point for Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC), an entity to promote social sciences in the country. AASSREC 25th Biennial General Conference will be held from 14-16 June 2023 at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea under the theme “Social Sciences in Asia: Past, Present and Future”.

After a thorough selection process, the NSF has nominated Prof. Manjula Ranagalage, Head of the Department of Environmental Management, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka to attend this Conference representing NSF who is expected to present the country paper on “Current Challenges and Future Opportunities Facing by the Social Science Researchers in Sri Lanka”.

The NSF summoned a meeting with the expert panel on 19th May 2023 to provide input and comments for improvement of the country paper where Prof. Ranagalage presented the country paper that he had prepared. He is expected to improve the paper accordingly and present the same at the above event which will be an opportunity to enhance the regional visibility of Sri Lanka’s social sciences. 

Dr Sepalika Sudasinghe, DG/NSF, Prof. S.T. Hettige, Former Chairman /NSF Working Committee on Social Sciences (WCSS), Prof. Indra Lal De Silva, Former Committee member/ WCSS, Eng. (Mr) Mahesh Dissanayake, Head/ Research Division, Mr Wasantha Anuruddha, Head/ Science and technology Policy Research Division participated at the meeting.
