NSF forges strategic partnership with OOSLA of the Presidential Secretariat

ooslaThe NSF constructed a Global Digital Platform (GDP) with technical support from the SLASSCOM in order to harness Sri Lankan expatriates for national development, and it was launched on 21  February, 2022 under the distinguished patronage of  Prime Minister Hon. Mahinda Rajapakse.  Presently over 1,000 Sri Lankan expatriate scientists, professionals, technologists and entrepreneurs from across the globe have registered with the GDP, and many programmes have already been constructed for the benefit of academia,  R&D institutions.and the country 

In line with the vision of the present Government, an Office for  Overseas Sri Lankan Affairs (OOSLA) has been established at the Presidential Secretariat to obtain  the support and services of Overseas Sri Lankans (OSLs) for socio-economic development of the country.

On invitation of OOSLA, Prof. Ranjith Senaratne (Chairman), Dr. Sepalika Sudasinghe  (Director General) and Dr. Shantha Siri (Head/Division of International Affairs) of the NSF visited  OOSLA on 04 May 2023 and held discussion with Mr.  V. Krishnamoorthy   (Director General), Ms. Samantha Jayasuriya (Director), Ms. R.D.Rajapakse (Director) and other staff of OSSLA on how the NSF and OOSLA could work with synergy and complementarity to achieve their goals and objective in a more effective and efficient manner in the interest of the country.

The discussion was very productive and stimulating and it paved the way for forging strategic partnership between the two institutions in a mutually rewarding and reinforcing manner by  sharing their  resources to advance national development and reconciliation.
