JNSF Celebrates 50 Years of Publishing

This year, the Journal of the National Science Foundation (JNSF) will mark 50 years of publishing and disseminating S&T related research findings to the globe.

Since the first issue published in 1972, the JNSF has been the most sought-after journal among Sri Lankan researchers. The popularity of the JNSF expanded to all continents after being indexed in the Clarivate Analytics Science Citation Index Expanded (then owned by Thomson Reuters) in 2008. In 2021 the JNSF Impact Factor reached 0.515, which is another milestone in its journey.

Marking the Golden Jubilee, the National Science Foundation (NSF) is planning to publish a special issue of the JNSF under the theme “Meeting Global Challenges: A Transdisciplinary and Transnational Approach”. Renowned Sri Lankan Scientists at home and abroad are contributing to this commemorative issue. Prof. Charitha Pattiaratchi, Prof. A Prasanna De Silva, Prof. Dilantha Fernando, Prof. Saman Halgamuge are among expatriate scientists to contribute in submitting Review Articles whereas Prof. Upali. S Amarasinghe, Prof. Rohana Chandrajith, Prof. J.B. Ekanayake, Prof. R.M.G. Rajapakse, Prof. S.H.P. Parakrama Karunaratne and Prof. Meththika Vithanage are among the experts to contribute from home.

Through this 50-year journey, scientists from all S&T disciplines have contributed and collaborated as members of the Editorial Boards, authors and reviewers to take the JNSF to greater heights. The JNSF is aiming at reducing its turn-around-time and provide a better service to the expectations of the local and foreign authors. The future of JNSF lies in publishing results of high-tech research of all over the world.

The NSF wishes to invite all past and future contributors of the JNSF to join hands with the NSF in the next 50 years’ journey in serving the S&T community of Sri Lanka to reach greater milestones.
